I’ll never forget the day when it felt like my whole world stopped.
The wave was so big it felt like I couldn’t move and all I could do was stand there and let it hit me.
Frozen.
Never moving forward.
My heart beating so hard and so loud it was like there was a drum caved inside me trying to bust out.
Finally the water hit.
It was as if death swept me up and was carrying me to my grave.
I will never forget the colour of the waves.
It was such a dark blue so much so that I couldn’t see underwater.
My skull was on fire trying to hold in the last inch of breath I had.
Then it was gone.
The water rushed in through my lungs and I could feel it taking over my veins.
Trying to reach the surface it was as if two invisible hands were pinning me down.
I kept rushing through the darkness.
Then I saw a light.
I felt nothing.
Laying there lifeless.
Body rising to the top.
I’m free.
